Grace VanHorn - Head Coach

Grace has built a distinguished career in softball, both as a player and a coach. A standout athlete from Union Springs High School, Grace excelled on the Varsity Softball Team for four years, earning All-State honors as a pitcher and receiving multiple accolades from ESPN Ithaca.

Following high school, Grace continued her softball journey at the collegiate level, pitching for Division I St. Bonaventure University before transferring to Division II Oklahoma Baptist University. Her impressive career on the mound laid the foundation for her transition into coaching.

For the past seven years, Grace has dedicated herself to coaching and mentoring young softball players, specializing in pitching instruction with a focus on internal rotation. Her expertise extends beyond technical skills; she emphasizes the importance of the mental game, guiding athletes to excel both on the field and in their personal lives.

Most recently, Grace served as the Head Coach for the Division III team at Wells College, where she applied her comprehensive knowledge of the sport to lead and develop her players. She now adds Head Coach of Division III SUNY Oswego Lakers Softball to her impressive resume! Her commitment to fostering athletic and personal growth makes her a valuable asset to the softball community.

Harold VanHorn - Assistant Coach

Harold is the Varsity Softball Coach at Southern Cayuga High School, where he oversees all facets of the school’s softball program. With a comprehensive approach to coaching, Harold is dedicated to developing players’ skills, enhancing their fundamentals, and refining their mental approach at the plate.

Previously, Harold served as the hitting coach for the Wells College softball team, where he focused on optimizing batting techniques and strategy. His coaching philosophy integrates technical skill development with mental conditioning, helping athletes of all ages improve their performance both physically and psychologically.

Harold’s expertise in both skill work and the mental aspects of hitting makes him a well-rounded coach committed to fostering growth and success in every player he works with.
